It’s me, ya girl, Lendsey back with another blog.
This Saturday had a jammed-packed stage for the Summer Jam. There were six bands and two booths, and a pretty good turnout of people coming to check out the tunes, the food, and grab up all those tasty drinks the bar was serving.

A lot happened Saturday night. The Summer Jam had a beer tasting competition for the Mariana Brewers with a list of beers they created for everyone to try. My dudes, those drinks were so good, too. They were all different flavors of alcohol that just hit the spot. The flavors we tried were orange vanilla, peach ring, and jalapeno pineapple. Which were our favorites, you ask? Well, the peach ring one was so freaking good, but the one that we voted for was jalapeno pineapple. With the $25 entrance membership, you got the chance to try any of the different flavors you wanted, and it was worth it.
The food was good too. They had tacos inside and a booth set up from Mike’s Smoked BBQ sandwiches. We got the pulled pork spicy sandwiches, and woof, they were tasty, so I would say all in all, the drinks and the food were great for the atmosphere.
Now, guys, on to the night’s lineup of bands. Mike Storm hosted this evening’s events and brought that personality on stage with great entertainment, introducing each band and even giving us a few on-the-spot songs of his own as a little in-between set changes performance. He had a booth set up with all his gear that caught your attention, cause who wouldn’t want one of those t-shirts or hats, ‘I give no fux’ come on, I wanted one for myself.

The first to hit the stage and start the night out was Legendary Hangover, giving us some covers and a few originals. Gotta say Jenae’s voice, the lead singer and lead guitarist, was fire, perfect for those heavier vocals, and I can’t wait to hear more in the future.

The second to come on the stage and hit us with those classic rock hits was Above the Ashes. They played their set well, Peter did a great job on the drums, controlling his volume and practicing had his sound blending nicely with the other instruments, including their lead female vocalist with her killer skills in using the tambourine. The tambourine skills were memorable. Not many can grab a tambourine and control it like that.

Dead is Next, throwing that good old Americana set list at us, getting people up and dancing. They had a little trouble in the beginning with the guitarist having to re-tune his guitar, but once they got their sound going, it was smooth sailing.

The night kept on going with three more bands showing off their skills, like Rebel Robbie giving their funky three-person performance with their awesome drummer making their sound even better. They busted some dance moves on stage, showing off some skills with handling their instruments.

Now I’m a bit of a metal fan myself, so I thought it was awesome that they got a metal band, Trendkill Revolution Pantera Tribute, to play. They got the crowd going, stirring the people up for a small mosh pit. Their lead singer got off the stage and had the people flowing in a circle, hyping them up more. It was cool to watch.

Last but not least, to wind the night down and get everyone feeling the vibes was Surreal Faces. This jam band closed out the night with smooth grooves and an energy that wrapped the whole evening in good vibes. Their set was the perfect ending, chill, soulful, and full of feeling.

It might have felt like a long night, but it was jammed packed, and each band showed off all their practice and hard work. I honestly can’t wait to see more from these bands in the future, seeing where their direction leads and how they develop their skills.
Now for the art of the blog, I want to show off what I got from a friend, who said I could show it off. It definitely is one of my favorite pieces from her. It’s colorful and whimsical and features one of my favorite sci-fi movie creatures, Alien.

If you guys would like to see your art featured on the next blog, email your submissions to Kendra@bhmusic.net, and who knows, you might just get mentioned!
P.S.: All art styles and mediums are welcome! We’re here to support our local art communities, so let us help share your work. (And don’t worry, we’ll never use your art without your clear, explicit permission!)
Pi here for a quick word:
I got nothin’ boo boos. All my work is still under wraps for now, but one of these days I will have a sec to share some of what I’ve been up to. Hoping to pop down for a show this month just for funsies. If you’d like me/us to feature your show, maybe snap a pic or two tell me what you play and when your next show is. I wanna rock tf out guys. If you have merch that’s even better. I’m about to fly to Maui (end of Aug) and wanna rock some local swag while I relax, alone, for a week. Catch you around! Remember guys, love yourselves, give grace, and be gentle. You are NOT your enemy, or at least you don’t have to be. -Pi (aka Kendra)
