Heyo everyone, it’s ya girl Lendsey back with another blog! I just wanted to share a little about what went down on Saturday. It was a long day, but still a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out with everyone up there playing.
Saturday was Make Music Day, a global celebration of music happening everywhere in the world. Matthew had a gig up in Big Bear at Compass SoCal Resorts, running sound for the Make Music event. He made sure every artist who took the stage was heard loud and clear.
The first to set up was local artist Dom Grande, who brought out his booth and showed off some pretty cool pieces. I chatted with him for a bit and learned that the stories behind his art were just as interesting as the work itself. The textures and details he puts into each piece really stood out. I loved it.
As an artist myself, I can’t help but admire other people’s work. It’s always fascinating to see how each artist approaches their craft, how their techniques work for them. It opens up new ways of thinking for me and gives me new ideas I can explore and maybe even apply to my own art.
Sharing your art and inspiring others… that’s what makes the world a little brighter.

On the music side of things, the first performer at Make Music Big Bear was Ian Seabolt! He did a fantastic job, and I really enjoyed a lot of the songs he played, especially one he hasn’t even released yet. He mentioned it was a bit tricky to sing and play at the same time, but man, he absolutely killed it.
The song’s called Pop Songs, and I honestly can’t wait for him to finish it and release it. It’s definitely one to keep an eye out for.

Up next was Rodney York, who put on a great performance, and even sang a song just for me and Matthew! We were unintentionally twinning in flannel shirts, and as it turns out, he has a song called Flannel. It was such a fun and unexpected moment, and honestly, it was the highlight of the day for me, especially since we were the only two in flannel at the time.
Rodney’s whole set was a blast. He kept the energy up, interacted with the crowd between songs, and even asked people to shout out some of their favorite tunes. Super entertaining from start to finish.

Last but definitely not least was Loose Affiliates! Connie crushed it on vocals and guitar, backed by an awesome band: Dylan on drums, Mike Hanson on bass, Cole Hanson on trumpet, and Max Hanson on French horn. Their sound was unique and super cool. They have such an interesting blend of instruments coming together to make something really special.
What stood out to me most were the instruments themselves. I kept wondering how each one came to be, especially the French horn that Max was playing. That thing looks wild and seriously cool.

To wrap things up, I wanted to include a little piece of art, kind of like a trading card for the blog! (Well, at least this blog… next time I’ll try something different.)
This mini artwork is by me, created with ink and alcohol markers. I was just having fun, being a little silly with it and honestly, what’s art if you can’t be silly sometimes?

News from the Art Cave:
Pi here with a smol update: I recently finished the website for Revolver and what a wild adventure it was. I have been maintaining the blackhat website for some time and we started noticing that some of you could really use some help with the same exact thing. So Revolver took me up on an introductory offer just to test the waters. Lemme tell ya, it was an adventure. I am happy to say that the site is running smoothly and looks quite slick. So if you’ve been tossing around the idea of a website or EPK for your band, hit me up via the contact page or email me directly at Kendra@bhmusic.net. I gotchu fam!
There are upcoming releases to keep an eye out for from two of our favorite local musicians: Doug Strange and Ian Seabolt. I’ve been looking forward to the release of these for some time and only recently got tapped to go full steam ahead with the art/design/branding for these while Matt works on mastering the singles. While I’m not the one who made the cover piece for Ian’s EP it has crossed my desk so to speak and I LOVE it. The artist can be found here. Lots of really rad stuff on his page so please go check it out!!
To be honest, I’ve had a ton of fun working on Doug’s EP cover and I look forward to sharing it with y’all when the time comes. These two are the fellas I tend to collab with the most it seems, and I always look forward to the next big thing from them. Sometimes they even let me get my musical ya-ya’s out singing backing vocals on some of their tracks. For them, I am grateful.
We are grateful to all of you for sharing your talents with us every single day. Have a fantastic upcoming holiday and be safe out there this 4th of July friends. YOU are all important! Much love.
