Greetings everyone! It’s been another one of those boring weeks for us, but honestly we relish the time off. This blog isn’t always the most formal and polished of our works, but we still like to try and give you something useful if possible. Since there are no actual shows, recording sessions, or other studio projects that were actually worked on this week I thought I would humanize the group of us just a smidge and give you a little peek at what we thought were the highlights of our week.
Matt – This guy is always busy, and when I say always I am not exaggerating. If it isn’t music it’s a coding project, random carpentry, his day job…you name it. Busy. It’s been hard to even catch this guy on the phone recently. When I did get to talk to him on Monday he gave me the lowlights of his free weekend. He designed a new desk in CAD that he was eager to work on. I brought him a few sanders last weekend so he did some work on his desk. Sounded like he is making some solid progress on it. He also came up with an idea for a video game concept that his partner also found interesting. Sounded like they did a proper hyper-focus session working on actually making the game. It has a very long way to go before it would be playable, and there isn’t necessarily the intention to take it that far, but it sounded like a really fun distraction nevertheless. This week though it’s back to work as usual.
Rhey – This gal has also been incredibly busy most times I’ve tried reaching out recently. With a day job, working blackhat shows, and planning her wedding she’s been understandably preoccupied. I haven’t seen it yet, but I heard she finally ordered her wedding dress which is certainly one her her highlights this week. When I reached out to her about it she confirmed and also told me that a warranty is going to cover the cost of home repairs she had been concerned about. Being responsible sucks, but rAmen for insurance and warranties right?
Pi – There’s been a cloud over my house for weeks. My partner and I have both suffered losses recently and while we are certainly functional and pulling through some days have proven to be challenging to say the least. There have been lots of stories shared, many tears, and so much silent contemplation that I’m afraid we might be wallowing at this point. Instead of focusing on that we are trying to dump energies elsewhere. We deep cleaned the entire house, took the kids on a few adventures, and have spent time focused on our individual projects. I have been trying to make it a point to finish some art projects that have hanging over my head for ages. One of these projects was a trade that was initiated back around thanksgiving or Christmas of last year. I told him I was in the middle of a painted clock commission that was taking a lot of my time and that I would be able to really put time into the piece after the holiday, which I did. The initial sketch looked good. Unfortunately he wanted it colored. I tried coloring it using a new set of pencils I purchased thinking I would be able to get better results using that medium. Unfortunately I hated the way it started to look. Like, A LOT. I was communicating with the fella through this and I think both of us were disappointed by the progress. At some point he told me to forget it and not to worry about finishing the piece. I put it away for a few months and tried not to think too hard about not being able to finish one piece. It bothered me though, as he had already made and sent the little crocheted bone sucking monster I’d requested in exchange. The Moopsy (for the trekkies I know aren’t reading this blog) has been haunting me for months.
Well a month ago the fella reached out and asked if i still had the piece and would still be willing to send it. I hadn’t finished it, but it was still in my folder. So that’s what I did this weekend. I finished another looming project and sent it off yesterday. It is far from my favorite piece, but it was an interesting concept, and one that I would like to look at differently using a more comfortable medium. The gumball machine was actually kinda fun. Thankfully he’s been an understanding fellow maker, and I hope he likes his aert trade even though it took ages to get. I threw a nifty skull trading card in the package too just for good measure. It sure feels good to be one project lighter. Now to work on this giant painting I was supposed to do for Matt a couple years ago. I still don’t even know what to paint, but it’s a huge canvas. Send help, and more coffee. I’m going to need it.

Until Next Week my loves. I will try updating on the podcast more soon. At least I don’t have to worry about the Moopsy eating my bones to pay the debt of his creation now. See you soon.
