“Right from the singing horse’s mouth…”

11/08/2023

News from Rhey– The first of our Acoustic Gallery showcases went pretty well for a Tuesday. We had a decent turnout and the artists from Scribbles Art Collective even sold some work. They said they would be happy to come back for future shows. Joy, one of the owners of the bar, was impressed by the turnout. We had a few small hiccups, but they were easy to fix. Troy saved the day by letting the other artists use his amp. I think we can get a good enough crowd to make this a regular thing.

Joshua Tree-brought the comedy with his, “Short term memory loss”

Troy-played bass originals (he played a song called Peach, and ended on Argonaut)

Ian– shared some older songs including the first song he wrote where he felt like a songwriter, and he ended on Satan’s Vipers to feel badass. If you haven’t heard Ian’s album Hope Street yet, you really need to.

Tricia– She did a duet with troy on I remember during his set, originals and covers, her crowd favorite original love is not a song, ended on can’t help falling in love

Chris Gonzalez-Did a few songs that TDP does,  he had a special request to do jelly roll, then did a few songs with G-Hippy.

It sounded like a great night. Shame I couldn’t make it to this one.

As for me…well, I was sitting outside dyeing for two days. Now before you get your undies in a bunch, what I mean is, I was doing that tie dye shirt order for Troy Story Band. Thirty-plus shirts is a sizable order and it definitely made me feel like I am not aging gracefully. I started Saturday morning and didn’t finish the process until Monday afternoon. I’m still sore.

I did take some time Saturday evening to go have dinner with family and then stop into the Humble Crumb show at Frogee’s. If you haven’t seen them yet, you’re missing out. Teddy Bob is always fun to catch on stage. He opened the night with an acoustic solo set, followed by a few songs from Chris Gonzalez. I was only able to stay until the end of their first full set, but I still got to catch an old favorite of mine we lovingly called “Super-Deluxe” though I can’t remember what TB actually calls it. It’s a mashup of at least three different songs including Seven Nation Army, Sweet Dreams, and Clint Eastwood. Definitely a must see. I believe they will be performing a set later this month at a show with TDP.

I also got those ladies shirts and new buttons ordered for the Loose Affiliates. Those should hopefully be available at their show on the 24th of November. I can’t wait to see how they come out. I’ve got lots more going on behind the scenes here at blackhat, but none of it is interesting enough to tell y’all about. That’s all for today. Join us next week for more oh-so-exciting studio news.

    1. They will be available with the upcoming album release I believe. Along with some stickers and possibly some buttons! I’ll announce the release date once Troy and Matt decide on a date. I can ask if he’s down to do pre-orders though!
